Partners for Review -

Who we are

P4R Background

Partners for Review (P4R) is a global multi-stakeholder network for government representatives and stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, academia and other non-state actors involved in follow-up and review processes of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Initiated in 2016 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and implemented by GIZ, the network’s objective is to help foster robust follow-up and review mechanisms at all levels and to ultimately contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Partners for Review facilitates dialogue and peer learning on good practices and success factors, provides a safe space to explore challenges and lessons learned, and shares expertise on new and emerging issues related to SDG follow-up and review.

Partners for Review is regularly conducting network meetings and webinars. Since November 2016, the network has grown to assemble a large number of the countries that have presented their Voluntary National Review (VNR) at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development one or more times. It unites more than 650 key actors from over 90 countries around the globe as well as from international organisations and UN entities – and is probably unique in this constellation.

In addition, the P4R Secretariat compiles case studies and conducts thematic analyses, including an annual analysis of the VNR reports of that year. More recently, the P4R Secretariat has entered partnerships with some of its network members (e.g. PARIS21, UNSDSN, the Danish Institute for Human Rights, and the International Civil Society Centre) and started conducting peer exchanges with smaller numbers of countries and participants, e.g. on VNR processes, data partnerships and meaningful stakeholder participation.
